Thoughts I Had...

Today, on the first Fabulously Fun Friday of the summer, my sister and I went to Red Robin. We both tend to talk a lot when we eat, and for some reason today, we kept talking about what  we were eating, too. I am sure it was very entertaining for anyone dining near us. Here are the thoughts we had {that we said out loud } while eating at Red Robin. #1:  Why didn't I cut this burger in half? #2:  Why did I take out the little stick thing? #3:  Can we have some more napkins? #4:  Oooo, seasoned salt! #5:  I don't think I got any burger in that bite. #6:  Are my hands really this small? #7:  I'm scared to put this burger down. #8:  Can we have more napkins? #9:  I think there's more of the top bun left than the bottom. #10:  Oh, so the whole strip of bacon is coming out. Okay, that's cool. #11:  I didn't mentally prepare myself for this. #12:  Can we have more napkins? #13:  Wait--you really want to give ...

A Very Happy Birthday

I have been rather negligent in my posting as of late. Blame it on this persistent two-week cold. Blame it on my incredible disappointment with the How I Met Your Mother finale. Blame it on my busy schedule. Any of those would do. But today I have something happy to post about. In all reality, this should have been posted yesterday, but here we are. Back in January, I posted about my Grandma Fink's birthday. Unlike some people I know, I was blessed to grow up within ten miles of both sets of my grandparents. They were all present in my life in various ways; I don't think I would be the same person without them. Yesterday, my Grandma Rowe turned 85. She was born in 1929, so she literally grew up during the Great Depression. She lived through a World War, saw the world around her change from party lines to cell phones, dime movies to 3D televisions. She raised six children and is the grandmother of twelve grandchildren and the great-grandmother of nine (to date). And even at ...

The Happiest of Birthdays

I didn't intend to do this post today--I have a really fun one that I'm planning (well, I think it's fun...you know how that goes). But instead, I decided to post about something equally fun. Plus, it gives me a new angle for my blog:  people appreciation. Yep, I know lots of people. Maybe not as many as some, but probably more than others. I know good people, bad people, great people, average people, silly people, happy people...So I think occasionally I might do a post appreciating those people (look for a very similar post in April!). And today's is incredibly special, because it celebrates one of the sweetest, kindest, most beautiful women I know--my grandma. Today is my Grandma Fink's birthday, and it does not seem right to celebrate her day without thinking back on all that woman has done for me. She was one of my first teachers (and I don't mean in school...although I am proud to say that I was one of her students then, as well). She taught me how ...
