An October List: Making this an Annual Thing
You know, my very first "list" post was from October of last year. It seems only appropriate to do one this October.
We're halfway through the month. We've made it through the first quarter of this new way of teaching. I've survived the first eight weeks of my current grad school class {barely, but there's still time...this class might defeat me}. Harvest is finished. The weather has turned crisp.
Yep, a perfect time to craft a new list.
My Current Books
I am not reading them all at once. Two of them I have checked out from the library and really need to get around to reading them. Our October "Wines & Spines" {aka, my book club} pick was Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I'd read it years and years ago, and it was a delight to re-read. If you haven't read it yet, do yourself a favor and pick it up. I have November's book in my stack, but I haven't started it yet: Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay. I'm just getting enough into Rebecca that I can't put it down. Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie, because the movie is finally being released in December, I think. I loved Kenneth Brannagh as Hercule Poirot in Murder on the Orient Express. And then there's Jenny Colgan's The Cafe by the Sea. I just finished her new release, 500 Miles from You, which was phenomenal.
I'm finally getting into Binge Mode's Game of Thrones run. They go one episode at a time and break down the events of the episode, the foreshadowing for future episodes, and the differences between the books and the show. Plus, Mal and Jason are just so very fun to listen to! Jason has a great Petyr Baelish impression that gets me every time!
My Current Shows
I have enjoyed quite a few things this month, and there are some others I would like to enjoy before the month is through. Netflix's The Baby-Sitter's Club is fantastic! Distinctly modern and yet incredibly nostalgic. I have plans to watch The Haunting of Bly Manor, which is loosely based on Henry James's The Turn of the Screw {which is what I was reading last October when I wrote this list}. The final half of the final season of Supernatural is currently airing, and season 4 of The Crown is released in about a month. I'd also like to rewatch season 4 of Outlander, but that hasn't happened yet.
My Current Tea
The Lady Lavender tea I mentioned last month took a long time to finish, but I am now drinking a special blend from Adagio Teas that was free in one of my many orders. It's a Libra tea, and has rose petals and chocolate and other delicious flavors all mixed together. Love, love, love!
My Current Coffee
When I was in Door County last weekend, I went to the Door County Coffee & Tea Company. My goal was to pick up a pound of Autumn Spice and a pound of Pumpkin Spice coffee. Well, they didn't have any pre-bagged, so I had to grind my own right then and there. My car smelled delicious the rest of the trip {the scent is still lingering just a bit}.
Well, there we have it. Full circle...the coffee is exactly the same as last year's. *Sigh.*
